2. Manual Claiming & Vesting Alignment
Previously, staking rewards were automatically claimed during interactions. After Lotus:
- Auto-claiming is disabled – users now choose when to claim rewards;
- Vested tokens now yield vested rewards – if your staked TIA is locked, so are your rewards.
These changes give delegators more control (especially useful for tax planning) and ensure alignment between long-term staking and reward distribution.
3. Native Cross-Chain Interoperability
The Lotus upgrade integrates Hyperlane, a cross-chain messaging protocol, directly into Celestia’s architecture.
This allows TIA to move across 100+ chains – including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, and more – without using third-party bridges.
It also unlocks seamless connections between Celestia-based rollups and other ecosystems, advancing modular interchain communication.
